Richard Crowther of the BBC presents Anne with her award
Safer and Supportive Salisbury Chair Anne Trevett was shortlisted – and received a Highly Commended Award at the BBC Radio Wiltshire Make a Difference Awards 2025. On Sunday 14 September, in the beautiful setting of the Bowood Hotel, 200 invited guests enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea with a glass of bubbly to celebrate the worthy winners and runners up.Anne was shortlisted for the Volunteer Award – ‘awarded to an individual who makes a notable difference to their community by giving their time voluntarily to help others.’ With the SaSS tagline – small projects which make a big difference, the award seemed made for Anne. So many things in Salisbury simply wouldn’t happen without her!
Dominic Cotter, the BBC Make a Difference Awards Organiser told the assembled audience that more than 200 nominations had been submitted across the eight categories and that ‘all of them were winners in our eyes’. She was presented with her award by Richard Crowther of BBC Wiltshire.
A short video was shown in each category and in Anne’s film she highlighted our Safe Places scheme and was seen chatting to Monsura Ahmed of the Muslim Women’s Group and to Vicky Goodright at Shopmobility. Anne was supported at the event by her proud brother John and by SaSS Trustee Liz. The event provided some useful networking opportunities too!
