Here for Hearing Project
The Here for Hearing project aims to address the need for information and services to support people with hearing loss in Salisbury, to include both those who are Deaf (ie those deaf from birth) and experience hearing loss during their lifetime.

The project plans to establish and support a Hearing Support Network (HSN) in the city including individuals with lived experience, community organisations providing support, representatives from Salisbury businesses, churches and the entertainment industries. This will support businesses and organisations across the city who wish to meet the needs of the Hearing Impaired community more effectively.
It is hoped that this Network will be able to produce guidance on best practice in providing support to the hearing impaired and Deaf community and signposting including to digital systems. Further down the line, the Network would plan to hold a Showcase event in central Salisbury at which providers of services and support can give advice and share expertise to people with hearing impairment and their carers.
Deafness remains the Cinderella of sensory impairments, often misunderstood and subject to derision even within families, sometimes resulting in isolation and low level depression: we will work to improve understanding and knowledge locally.
