This summer, Salisbury will transform into a city-wide celebration of wellbeing, nature and outdoor mini adventures as Breathing Spaces 2026, the latest showcase from Safer and Supportive Salisbury, takes place from Saturday 27 June to Sunday 5 July 2026.

Over 10 days, parks, rivers, allotments, other green spaces and community venues across Salisbury and surrounding villages will host a vibrant programme of free and low-cost activities designed to support physical and mental wellbeing, encourage community connection and help people rediscover the benefits of spending time outdoors.
Residents and visitors of all ages are invited to take part in a diverse range of activities including guided nature walks, river dipping, park yoga, conservation volunteering, gardening sessions, wildlife talks, cycling and running, paddle sports tasters, arts activities and family-friendly outdoor experiences.
Breathing Spaces brings together local organisations, volunteers, community groups and outdoor spaces in one shared programme celebrating Salisbury’s unique natural environment and the people who help care for it.
Anne Trevett, Chair for Safer and Supportive Salisbury said:
“Breathing Spaces isn’t just about tapping into the inspiring green and blue spaces here on our doorstep, it’s also about reaching out and forming friendships within our community so we can access these spaces together and feel welcomed and supported.
It is a community-wide event for everyone, and a directory is available of friendly contacts to get you experiencing the outdoors and finding your own happy place.”
Printed programmes will be available across the city, look out for the bright green cover, there is also an online programme and interactive map helping visitors discover the activities and outdoor spaces throughout Salisbury.
Many events are free to attend, although some activities may require advance booking.
Supporting Safe and Welcoming Communities
During Breathing Spaces, visitors will also be able to access Salisbury’s Safe Places network, a city-wide scheme offering support to anyone who feels anxious, vulnerable or in need of assistance while out and about. Participating cafés, shops, public buildings and community venues display Safe Places signage.
Looking Ahead to Salisbury 800
Breathing Spaces 2026 also forms part of the build-up to Salisbury 800 in 2027, celebrating the 800th anniversary of Salisbury’s Charter Market. Next year’s Breathing Spaces showcase is already planned for 26 June to 4 July 2027.
